A Long-Term Plan for Development and Investment in Scio Township

The Board’s decision to dissolve the Downtown Development Authority was a mistake. The rationale was thin, focusing on a narrow interpretation of State Act 57 instead of exploring options and other opportunities. The decision effectively punished the DDA for neglect that had been occurring by both the DDA and the Board of Trustees for many years. It seemed to reveal an us-versus-them mentality.

This decision was very costly for the Township and cannot be undone. Many years will be needed to rebuild another DDA to the level we just ended. Such an effort will not happen in Mark’s years in office, but he believes we must start over, and now is the time to begin.

Solution: Teamwork. Common Sense.
